I have a small number of buy to let properties all built in circa 2012. They are managed by external agents.

I am looking for recommendations for good quality insurance policies that deal with electrical, plumbing, drains, boiler repairs etc. I know that the British Gas offer a Landlord Homecover policy which includes an annual gas safety certificate. I currently pay for my buildings insurance via a broker but i would be happy to bundle this into a single policy or keep it separate.

I would welcome any recommendations from people who have cover in place.

Thank you.

For our BTLs, we’ve found that in general, you’re better to self insure than buy insurance for those issues. The cost per month/year is generally high in comparison to the coverage you end up having.

You should always have some retained earnings to cover these types of things.
