Can anyone identify the car please? Belonged to my Great Grandfather, location St Anne’s circa 1920’s. Many thanks!

Car looks a bit later, more like a 1930s model.

Or Morris 15/6?

Few little bits make my first thoughts are that it’s a Morris of some kind anyway.

Or could it be a Crossley Golden Saloon? So many similarities between cars of that era, but a few details don’t seem to quite match anything perfectly to my mind!

Looks a bit more Austin 12/6? Wheels are incorrect for Morris of that period.

The sharp angle on the top of the grille is throwing me a little. Can’t place that on anything.

I'll agree Crossley, probably the 15.7hp.made from 1928-31. Late examples had bolt-on wire wheels as has the puzzle car but the one in this picture hasn't.

Aren't the headlights on the wings on the puzzle car but mounted inboard on your picture?

Great response as usual on this forum. Many thanks. Early 30’s sounds right. The gentleman “Grampa Stead” was a wealthy businessman and that was his house behind. Good spot about the rabbit! Think it’s a reflection or similar! He wasn’t a Magician as far as I am aware!

I don't see headlamps on the wings, but I do see the puzzle car has not the sidelamps of the car in the other picture.

The overall shape and design looks like a late 1920s Hillman 14, but there are detail differences (no sidelights & four stud wheel hub).

Yes, I think you’re right and it’s is an Austin 12/6.

One of the details I was struggling to match exactly with anything was the rail above the windows. Most seem to drop off more dramatically behind the rear window, but on this example it looks an exact match, along with the wheels.

The only thing that looks different is the grille, unless it’s just the photo. It looks like a sharp angle on the top. This one does sweep back slightly, but not as sharp.

I see exactly what you mean about the grille shell but could be a continuation of the shadow on the path? Or am I clutching at straws?

No, you’re absolutely spot on! If you look very closely you can actually see the curvature of the grille and the sharp angle is actually the drive/path leading up to what I assume is a piece of lawn!

So yes, there’s your car, 100%

Yes I stand corrected and agree about the Austin - the four-bolt wheels should have been enough, but the lack of sidelamp and low position headlamp add a level of certainty!

I'm also pretty sure that is an Austin 12 Harley from the early 30s, as well as all the clues so far, the line below the windows and carrying on round the back looks right.
