Heads up, thank me later.

Co-written by Jeff Schaffer (Seinfeld, Curb Your enthusiasm etc).

Already an acclaimed hit in the USA, with viewing figures to match!

Jury’s out after 15 mins. Not seen anything remotely funny yet.

As a guy called Dave, Jewish and living in the suburbs I’m possibly the sweet spot of the target market biggrin

He’s famous already after 1.5 shows, surely the comedy would have been in his struggle to get noticed but this was fast tracked. I’ll tune into number 3 to see where he goes next but it’s on a knife edge.

His studio freestyle was good but probably took 6 writers and a week to film.

He is the writer hehe

He is a massively successful (novelty) rapper. As in singles with Chris Brown, Snoop and so on, 600 million views videos!

Google 'Lil Dicky' or see Youtube. The series is based on him.

Stick with it. Takes time to build up.

Fella at Rolling Stones watched the first 2 episodes, and gave up. He later heard from others and watched it again, loved it.

The first two episodes, filled with Dave making a fool of himself(*) and/or talking at great length about his deformed male anatomy, made me write the show off as decidedly Not For Me, and I moved on. Then a friend encouraged me to jump ahead to the fifth episode...
...
Yet the final sequence (finale) is a triumph for the two Daves and for Lil Dicky all at the same time — and a fitting conclusion to a show whose promise really snuck up on me.

Freaky Friday is probably the best known track (NSFW)

I happened to catch this the other night. It’s pretty good, but for rapper turned actor programmes is nowhere near ‘Atlanta’ so far!

I recorded it earlier due to the initial heads up from the OP. Always like to try new comedy.
I managed 10 minutes before giving up, not funny at all - deleted the rest of the recording.
Perhaps the target audience is 16 year old boys.

Watched the first two episodes, was not intending to watch any other episodes. This thread has made me think about giving it another chance.
