MOT & Tax exempt...please help

Hi all
I have a Non Q registration Kit car properly registered as a Nova
Date of first registration 16/09/1980 ...now according to the 40 year rule my car should be Tax & Mot exempt as of 16th September 2020 but I went onto the DVLA website to check but I was told 6 months £90.75 & 12 months £165.00
Any thoughts?

You'll need to take your log book to a post office and get it registered historic there. They take the log book and send it to the DVLA.
I had to do this last year for my VW Camper.
I don't believe you can do it on line.
EDIT - As above check the actual age as you may need to wait another year.

The 40 year exemption rolls forward on the 1st April each year. So a 1980 car won't be exempt until 01/04/21:

The DVLA are shut they are not taking paper copies at the moment , im in the same boat with a 1977 Capri ,,,,,nothing you can do until DVLA re open ......then excpect a big wait ?I had to do this last year for my VW Camper.

you will also need to fill in V112
