993RS RHD Search and Buying advice
Discussion
I have a 993C2 Targa and am trying to find an RS in RHD preferably. Is there any information over and above the normal 993 stuff I should be aware of? Just how much difference will I notice from my 993C2? And does anyone know of any others (maybe privately) apart from Specialist Cars of Malton, Hendon Way Motors and Autofarm who has one? And yes I do know there were only 45 or whatever in RHD so 3 for sale aint bad!
they are the 3 rhd I know for sale,,, The autofarm car is fairly priced, it is an ex race car which needs to be taken into consideration.
Have you considerd a lhd car...I was initially after a rhd car, but there is more lhd choice plus lhd are at least 10k cheaper. I was ready to sell the lefty after a week if I didn't get on with it, after 2 years I still have it. The lhd cars have a better seating position and larger fuel tank option. I spoke with an owner of a very sweet rhd RS last week and he remarked that the lhd cars had better steering feel...worth a thought?
a few exaples here www.gtclassics.co.uk

I bought LHD RS as I bought mainly for track and I did not see what the £15K extra for RHD was going to give me - except a worse drving position (esp. pedals) and the ability to use Drive Thru burger joints. If you're mainly buying for road use fair enough RHD makes sense if money no object.
The autofarm car is fine for road use,i know the owner well,it is a good car.Engine number is not correct,as it had a replacment proper engine from the factory,so its a good buy realy.
Also paul has a couple of nice cars about at gt classics, a nice lhd red car for sale on this site,PH adds ,has rebuilt engine by manthey, good original car.

Well it's the best colour and it has low miles. Quite a lot of money though. Certainly a lovely thing. I'd give 45 for it. And I'd ditch the airbad steering wheel too!
I saw the outwood car on Autotrader last week, more or less what I am looking at as my next RS...only thing is the price
Looks like I will stick with my current car for a little longer.
With respect to airbag wheels, I am reluctant to change. I would hate to find myself in a situation where in hindsight I wish I'd have kept it on.

If that Riviera Blue came down from a trader a little further North , check very carefully ...............mileage, price sound very similar to a car seen in last few moths with panels all over the place and cream colour in engine compartment , no sticker in luggage compartment and very novel paper written chassis number in screen.........of course if its not the same one .............
There are at least 2 Stinkers in this colour doing the rounds ; one looks like a clubsport ,which is no crime but sure is nt one and theres a lot worse, the other one , i think this one , has a real chequered history [ well actually none written down] but plenty to see unless ur blind !!!! 'RSR' may have the reg numbers noted ,i havent .
All now seems to be pointing to a lhd. Three for sale at GT Classics, although he's waiting for two to arrive so I can go and inspect. I'll check out the Outwood Motors car so thanks Clubsport. Obviously some dogs about so I think some professional inspection advice would be money well spent

All 3 on GT Classics look good. The black one with big wings looks just like mine!
These cars are just great. I was at the Porsche Club track day on Friday and my car was by late afternoon (I think) the fastest road legal car there. It was passing the GT3 RSs!!!! Only a very few slick-shod race cars were passing it. The 993 RS is very capable, this is best noticed on smaller tracks as opposed to Spa/Silverstone etc.
Also, loads of people come up to you to talk about the car and indeed RAVE about it! They usually say something like this, "Well, as good as those GT3s are, if it was my money I'd have one of these 993 RSs, they just look the dog's".

:gentle thud:
Johnny- that sounded like the faint sound of a gauntlet being thrown down to quite a few Pork trackers to me......
I know!!!
But nobody was more surprised than me, let me tell you! Don't worry, when I get to Bedford on 1 July, there will be many GT3 RSs whizzing past me and normal service shall be resumed!
993 RSs still rock mind......
