Hi all,

Long time lurker and reader but first post....

I'm looking to change my 2019 M4 competition for something around the 35k mark that I can use for fun over the weekend and still commute in. I love the BMW but my partner hates the seats and the fact it can be twitchy in the wet with her driving style/ treating the throttle as an on/ off switch. I'm also thinking if I buy something at the right age/ price the depreciation may not sting as much as the M4.

I do around 18k miles a year, don't have children so practicality isn't the most important factor in my buying decision. I'm not fussed on gearbox but I'm slightly swayed towards a manual at the moment.

Current shortlist is.....
Audi R8 (V8 and my preferred option of the list)
AM V8
911/ Boxster (I've owned 3 Boxsters and had some horrific reliability issues but could still be tempted back)
Jaguar F type

Anyone with experience of the list putting my mileage on would be great. Any new suggestions would be welcome....

Thanks

Here's the thing depreciation will be bad on all of them because you're annual mileage will hurt you depreciation & maintenance wise but all on your list are good cars but I'd be looking at some of these first:

Alfa 4C they're a cracking car even more so with the Alfaworks suspension upgrade:

Evora getting a slightly high miler will save you from some depreciation & you still get a cracking car.

XKR-S these are being overlooked but as a car they're imo a better car than the early V8 F Types & they're depreciating more slowly:

Instead of the Aston I'd probably take the Granturismo in either MC Shift or S form instead.

Thanks for that.

I know depreciation is going to be a hit, I just wonder if an older car with lower miles may be a better bet Vs the M4.

I would love the Alfa but I don't fit in them. Evora could be a shout, I haven't tried one before but could be worth a post Covid test drive.

Thanks again, lots of good options there.
