Apple Macbook pro problems
Discussion
Hi all
I have a 2018 macbook pro that I’m having an issue with.
When using the laptop the screen turned black and the touch-bar became unresponsive. I have tried switching it off and resetting it.
When I press the power button the backlight works and the caps lock light tyrns green but nothing is displayed on the screen. I only get a black screen. The touch-bar now only displays the esc key.
Apple want me to post it back for repair and a turnaround of over 2 weeks. Anyone have any ideas? Or likely cost for the pos.

Try this
When the power is on and touchbar is lit, shine a torch on the screen and you should just about see that the password entry field is faintly displayed. Enter password as normal and your MBP should come to life
If that fails, do a PRAM reset (Google is your friend) and then try the above
Mine has done this a couple of times and the fix procedure above comes from our corporate desktop support team

Tried these fixes but nothing worked. I have shon a torch but can’t see anything. All I can see is two lighter areas at the bottom corners of the screen. I suspect this is where the backlight is located. Maybe try a couple more times, hard powering off and on? I’ve learnt how to apply the fix, the first time it wasn’t obvious
My theory (unproven) is that this is a fault with the MacBook’s ambient light detection, as the one time I actually saw it fail was during a rapid change in lighting

Bought in 2018 or definitely the 2018 model? Does it sound like this?

I was reading about this yesterday.
That and the fact my keys get stuck (no jokes please) are not great for apple!...
Least they admit/resolve and don't kick it into the long tall grass.
