I have been doing some googling but with people deferring VAT due to the Corona virus it seems im searching the wrong thing.

I am about to buy a new UV Printer and there is a big chunk of VAT, Am i right in thinking there is a way we can agree to defer the VAT portion until we do our VAT return?

I know this was available when we purchased a printer on hire purchase 2 years ago. Is this possible with just buying the machine outright?

any advice would be great.

Hmm - I don't think you can; on some hire purchase agreements you can do a VAT deferral payment, but in this instance the finance company pay the VAT, and then take it as a payment from you after 3 months (i.e. once you've been able to claim it in your VAT return.)

Haven't seen an option to defer the VAT on a straight purchase.

Can't you just negotiate with the vendor to pay 75% on delivery and 25% after 3 months? Essentially 3 months' credit on the balance, secured on the machine. They may not be too keen, but a sale's a sale in the current climate smile

Thanks, it seems like it is usually just on finance agreements but i might chance my luck and ask to see if they will do it.
