Anyone who reads my posts will know I am no mechanic, so bear this in mind please.
I have read that lots of people have decided to have the fan over ride upgrade. My question is why? :confused:
If the fans trip in and out when they should and they cool things down as they should, why is the over ride a good idea?

I fitted one because I once suffered from a failed otter switch - i.e. the fans couldn't come on. The temporary fix is easy - short out the switch with a paper clip.
However, I was about to embark on a 2500 mile round trip of South of France and I didn't fancy such a failure again.
It also turned out useful when driving round Monaco/Cannes/Nice when it was 40 degrees - keep the fan on all the time when in traffic rather than the cut in, cut out every 2-3 minutes.
So peace of mind really.

Cooling is a bit borderline on some cars, there isn't a lot of leeway if the cooling system isn't 100%. The fan override allows for a pre-emptive strike, so you can get a head start on cooling things down when you just know its going to get warm - approaching a snarl up on a warm day. Better to not let it get too hot in the first place than to try to cool it down again!

I'm sure Tower View will be able to sort out your cooling system so you don't need an override switch. They will also be able to fit an override switch if you still want one. I would think it would be worthwhile having a warning light fitted as well so that you don't leave it switched on all the time inadvertantly.

Dave's dog is truly massive, and its still only a puppy.
Rather than the fan override switch, why not go for the twin speed kit from Mod-Wise. This allows you to set the 2 temps via twin dials to bring the fans on half speed and full speed (the otter then provides backup to these, they have thier own sensors ((just cable tied to the bottom hose))) Nice cause the half speed setting keeps air circulating thus bringing down cabin temps plus its a lot quieter than the full speed.
It also has the benefit of leaving the fans running after the ignition is switched off to help combat heat soak (which the starter motor and ignition coil will thank you for)
Its easy to fit except for the constant live feed from the starter motor which is a little fiddly as you need to get right under the car - but the whole thing can be fitted in and hour if you know where the fan multiplugs, otter swtich, bottom hose and starter motor are.
Of course in really hot weather like to day you can easily adjust the settings to bring the fans on a little earlier.

Works out at £120 inc VAT if you go for the 'posh' one with the ali box with the temp dials (which I have located on the front chassis cross member. Looks very good)
As promised. The unit as you can see is mounted to the top of the chassis cross member on the drivers side, thats the top wishbone you can see at the bottom of the pic below the lambda sensor (coated in a thick layer of waxoyl 
) plus the expansion tank bottom right and one of the fans on the right. The copper wires go to the temp sensors strapped to the bottom hose. At the top you can just see one of the multiplugs that the unit is attached to control the fans with.
Note I have set the green (half speed) setting for a little lower than the red (full speed) setting. The dots (on the unit not the dials) show the switching temp.
Oh and you can just make out the red cable, this goes to the constant live feed on the starter motor to keep the fans running even with the ignition off.
UPDATE: Mod Wise have suggested that the mounting place I have chosen is not the most intelligent and that the dials may melt under the heat from the exhaust, they have suggested I move it a little further away.
