I have the original plastic front seat tilt button adjacent to the headrests and will be replacing them soon with the much nicer glass option.

However, when looking through the glass switches, I am considering replacing them with the rear seat glass button, which to anyone entering the car unfamiliar with it, will clearly see the button is for seat tilting whereas the original is plain.

I See that the multiplugs are slightly different but could easily be made to match up, and the plain switch has only 2 terminals, so is probably a simple circuit "make" switch.

Whereas the CHEAPER rear seat tilt switch has 6 terminals...

What does the rear tilt switch do that the front does not? Does it also move the seat forwards or lift it? I suspect it runs the seat fully forward whilst tilting at the same time?

As it has the extra terminals, I would hope to be able to use it simply as a "make circuit" button and leave the rest redundant.

Has anyone tried this, or does anyone have a spare rear tilt button I can do a circuit test on for loan? Maybe an old plastic one thats been replaced for a glass one?

Cheers,

8Tech.

NEW INFO.....Following the purchase and installation of the new switches, I can confirm that both switches have 6 pin terminals but only 4 are used.

Following on from the overwhelming resposes to my requests for a wiring diagram and seat tilt info button, (see above!), I decided the best way was to simply purchase a rear seat tipping button and do a circuit test on it and compare it with the original.

I now have the seats fully operational without using the seat modules, and have successfully modified and installed the more visual seat tilt button, so no more "whats that button for on the headrest?" questions hopefully.

Next task is to get a couple of the nicer glass buttons now I know it works.

Hi
My DBS passenger side button is playing up.
Releases one side at the base of the seat, not the other.
So, although rarely required as passengers with no legs are in short supply, I have to use the manual release beneath the headrest.
Did you fathom out how the switch works - I mean release 2 solenoids or single to release both catches / the wiring etc ? - I have had the seat out but I am a little nervous about removing the covers to investigate further without some advice.
Thanks !

Hi Max,

The switch is a simple close circuit on press switch that effectively connects pins 1 and 2 together, therefore, on your seat, if the one side works then the switch is fine.
