2016 Daytona 675r with Q/S. basically been locked away since October, took it out for an essential food shop over the weekend and the shifter was really stiff and was struggling to change gear. Do you generally lube a part of it?

Given we can now ride freely again I don’t want to be stuck at home missing out.

Thanks

And check the bearings in the mechanism and if all ok, disconnect one end of the QS to make sure it isn't siezed.

Chain has been cleaned recently yes and looks to be ok.

Sorry, I should have said it’s only on downshift, so Q/S not being used at that time

Just had it on the paddock stand and did it again.

Do you have any clutch drag?

Worth checking the clutch cable, tension and condition.

This.

On the stands, engage 1st gear with the clutch pulled in and see how fast the rear wheel rotates. Keeping the clutch pulled in, you should be able to stop the wheel easily without the back brake. if it want's to keep rotating you might have some drag. Try adjusting the clutch pull and try again.
