Just been looking on eBay for a magnetic sump plug. They are on there.. some are £22 others are £5 . There doesn’t seem to be any difference apart from the dearer one states ‘Porsche’. Any recommendations? Maybe someone has bought one. scratchchin It is to go on a 997.1 C2 if that makes any odds. smile

Design911 have sump plugs for similar money. c£6 or £7 = standard, £23ish = magnetic.
Basically, if it's cheap - it's not magnetic.

I've just ordered one from rock auto cost about £18 including shipping. Looks same as the one design 911 is selling.

While eBay can be a Godsend for some things, for something that's literally keeping the lifeblood of your car in the engine where it belongs, I'd say it's a false economy to bank on a £6 part doing exactly what it claims.
