Hoping someone can help.

I have a vauxhall astra, 09 plate.

I have had to get a new battery. However I cannot get the battery holding bolt off to get the old battery out and stick in the new one.

After using WD40 the bolt did come somewhat loose. However it just keeps turning and there is no sign of it, coming off. I have been turning it anti-clockwise for over an hour!

help please

I’d say it needs at least another 45 mins of turning at least...

There might be a nut on the end of the bolt underneath the battery tray. That needs to be held in place with a spanner, while you undo the bolt.

Thanks everyone for your help. I will try to hold the bottom as to stop it just spinning.

If not successful, I will just call a mechanic out.

I appreciate the advice.

If I remember right the astra clamp bolt goes into a captive plastic but after its been slackened slightly it pulls back away from the battery.
