Hi...

I have this radio in my 2001 S ....i have dashboard speakers, door speakers and what appear to be speakers set into either side of the storage box behind the seats.

Only the dashboard speakers work,is this radio only designed o work with dashboard ones?

Would the other ones have been added?..i mean the storage ones ..

Thanks.

I’ve got a cdr 23 an amp and a cd changer that I took out to fit a double din Pioneer. You’re welcome to those but they work on the MOST system which you may not have.

I have the same car with speakers in the rear storage box that I added myself many years ago.

If I remember correctly they were a genuine option offered in the US but not in the UK. I ordered them from a supplier in the US. Never had any problems with mine.

Hope this helps

Thanks....the rear ones were put in before i bought it but the only speakers that work are the dashboard ones...

Messing about with wiring is beyond my pay grade...might need to have someone look at it see if it’s a simple wire come loose or something...

I have a Tequipment Boxster Booklet which has a description of each Audio System CDR-22 and CDR-32 etc.

Not sure of the year .... but on the Booklet spline .....WVK 600 220 02 E/WW which may be a code for the Model year ?

I could post this to you or if you do live in Clapham ( London ) I could put it through your letterbox tomorrow afternoon .

PM me ?

If you can get the radio out, first thing I'd be checking is that the rear speakers are actually wired to the radio, and weren't previously powered by a separate amplifier.

I believe that kit uses the channels set into the inside of the rear storage pod to route the speaker wires out of one side so it can be unplugged easily to get to the top engine cover. Is there something plugged in between the pod and either inside of the car?

UPDATE....

Ok so having checked the amp in the front i find this...wires look as they should, but there is this one non connected one...blue white ,my suspicion is it used to power a separate amp for the rear storage box speakers and someone just took it with them when they sold it ?that sound plausible?,

When i check the back of the radio i find the top section complete...the midddle one empty and the bottom one with a connnecor...i assume the bottom one is the rear speakers and the reason there is no sound from them the lack of stand alone amp?..( oh and the icing is i have managed to do something to the left hand lug despite it coming out and going back with the special key thingy which means i can no longer remove the radio from the housing..oh joy...)

Photos to come....

Incidentally anyone any idea what the pink connector is for?..it’s in the passenger footwell underneath the dash...seems official as the trim is shaped to accommodate it?..
