Discussion

this looks like great value or does it look that way only because we were so used to an overs market? whatever the answer, credit to ashgoods for setting the pace

sunroof, carbon and buckets
Compared to other cars on the market, I’d say that is a very good deal.
Nice spec, what does sunroof matter in the real world, Carbon looks way nicer than standard trim, buckets are fantastic, service history in general is good despite 1 small gap.
If that checks out it’s a good buy.
If I was looking to get back into one right now, I’d be all over that.
Can’t see a better car for sale, of any marque, for £ 70k that would get my money.

A comfort with sunroof and missing services. Love the enthusiasm in the advert, aka Sales BS.
In contrast to other stuff they have priced recently, that looks dear to me. Time will tell. Maybe someone desperately wants a 997.1 GT3 with loads of carbon tat.
Ashfords are playing a good hand at the moment, we have a lot of over priced cars on the market which have been for sale for months in some cases longer, they are pricing there stock just below these to make them look attractive with the hope of selling quicker. If you look at the price of the Top555 car to Ashgoods car this white one looks a good buy. Is it still a good buy at 70k in this market good only knows.
What’s interesting is the advert says it was recently sold by a OPC so clearly someone is selling up after a short period of ownership.
I personally like the Ashgoods car even with the sunroof!

I agree, really nice car for the money..Digga took me on some laps around Oulton in March and really impressed with how the 997.1GT3 acquits itself on track..Fantastic cars.Nice spec, what does sunroof matter in the real world, Carbon looks way nicer than standard trim, buckets are fantastic, service history in general is good despite 1 small gap.

I don’t think that’s a cheap car....it’s got a gap in it’s service history early on in life, then serviced at a specialist rather than OPC (JZM might be good but it’s not an OPC stamp) and then it’s not OEM spec which always hurts cars value. Pretty sure that “Carbon” isn’t OEM and I am not sure the buckets are either.
Service history is the big issue from a value perspective....for me it indicates it’s not been owned by someone that’s looked after it or run it on a budget.

I would say competitive, not cheap.
I bought one like this (no sunroof, obviously!) from a dealer 5 years ago with less mileage for £75k. Prices simply haven't gone down since, so you can't really refer to any cars as cheap - perhaps others as simply overpriced!
There are threads here where people were considering cars at less than £60k years ago if you really want to get annoyed...
I haven't looked yet, but CAP values were updated yesterday. It affects the whole trade, regardless of how 'special' cars like these are valued, as part exchanges etc. link everyone together.
Let's also remember that some dealers do SOR at a flat rate, so what the car sells at is not really an issue for them - why not talk an owner into a low price "because of the way the market is now" so it gets sold, and you get your commission?
Back on topic, I'm a snob (i'd rather say purist!) and wouldn't touch a GT3 with a sunroof personally, let alone the service gap.

It's the least desirable GT3.
To you, maybe. To me, it's most desirable GT3. Nothing before, or after, tickles my fancy quite as much. I can elaborate on why this is the case, but I would only be giving reasons which are specific to the way I feel - which is as you would expect when discussing desire.
I absolutely respect your view, but as desire is impossible to quantify your aspersion should not be written such that it represents a fact.

When I spotted it the sun roof didn’t cross my mind. Do people think this is a big no no in a gt car?
It also looks to have none standard front grills?
I think the meshes are a no-brainer to protect the vulnerable cooling pack/AC condensers. First thing I did. I've seen cars for sale via OPC's with these fitted, but strictly speaking they would prevent renewal of a warranty, and may have a bearing on claims. I haven't had a problem. Other's have had less accommodating (or more vigilant) service centres. It also looks to have none standard front grills?

I think the car looks great.
As per the other comments, the gap in service history and sunroof are oddities, but it seems to be priced well. Difficult to judge without seeing recent invoices/expenditure versus known and latent weaknesses at this age.
I still want a white one..
Some truly bizarre comments and aspersions being levelled at the car on here As per the other comments, the gap in service history and sunroof are oddities, but it seems to be priced well. Difficult to judge without seeing recent invoices/expenditure versus known and latent weaknesses at this age.

It's perfect 997 GT3 Touring material imo.
Fit a nice carbon ducktail in place of the original spoiler (it'd no doubt be considerably lighter than the standard GT3 spoiler, and the OE spoiler is the one feature of the Gen 1 997 GT3 that grates for me) and enjoy touring Europe in a car with a sunroof and cruise whilst basking in the superior dynamics of a GT car. What's not to like ?
Unless the car was tracked heavily in the period it missed its service, I wouldn't be loosing sleep over the issue. As for the service carried out by JZM, I'd see that as blessing/bonus, not a downside ...
Have your own independent inspection carried out after a decent, lengthy test drive and if all checks out ok, it'll make cracking car for someone whose not a GT3 "purist/snob" (of which we seem to have an ever increasing amount on this forum these days .... )

I had a sunroof on my 996 turbo and, on the right day, it's nice to have. They can be the source of annoying rattles and squeaks, so no good if you have OCD, plus it adds a bit of weight, right where you least want it. But IMHO it's no deal breaker. It also looks to have none standard front grills?
Grills are a must. A sensible OPC would not even query either. There's a very good reason why every 997.2 GT3 & RS had them, as standard, from the factory.
The buckets are very expensive to buy, a roll cage massively less so. You could convert to Clubsport spec very easily, as all the roll cage mounts will be there.
A nice car at a that price really, although service gap not ideal.
In other "value" news, check out the price of the Lizard Green 991.2 GT3 RS they have.
