Hi All

Dull question I'm afraid.

Do any of you UK people have any advice on which sticky pads to buy to keep your number plates firmly affixed?

Mine keep falling off after about 6 months........

Ta v much in advance

Wonder if it depends on how many pads are used?
You might have been unlucky, because I just used ordinary Halfords sticky pads and both plates are still on after 8 years.
I like the Halfords plates too, because the compulsory supplier details are almost invisible.

I've recently reattached my plate onto the front bumper using 3M vhb tape. Damn sticky stuff.

3m tape is very good, just don’t use too much as it’s not fun reversing the procedure if you have been too liberal with it. A strip down each side and one across the middle should be plenty. A heat gun or hair dryer on the tape and the surface to warm everything up really does help adhesion too.

and I always think it's worth cleaning the surfaces before hand with meths or similar to remove anything that prevents the adhesive to stick

That double sided clear Gorilla tape is bloody good. And there's an extra strong version. wink

I've bought some generic 'number plate tape' off amazon and it's absolutely superb - seems to stick forever and i've used it on multiple plates & vehicles. Also useful for various jobs around the house

Appears to be some hyperinflation due to coronavirus in the prices though!

I purchased this one in January 2019 for £5.37

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B071ZYRKQS/ref...

and this one for £2.99 in June 2015

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B009IQCET2/ref...

also would advise checking out camelcamelcamel (amazon price history tracker)
