Been looking into buying an e90 recently and have come across a 2006 325d up for £1990 with 199,900 miles on it.
How well does the 325d cope with high mileage and is it worth even considering a car of this mileage?

It copes very well. It has the M57. I have run an older M57 to 250k miles. It was more economical than my current one with half (ish) the miles.

That's good to hear. Do you reckon they're asking a reasonable price for it or is it too much?

Sounds a fair price. If it’s a manual if could need a DMF and clutch and the autos can give problems at high mileage.

At 14 years old and 200k you're effectively buying an end of life vehicle. You could well be the last owner. Even so, you'd like to see some bills for turbo/clutch etc. If it's an M Sport model, it'll return some $$$ via parts if the worst happens. I'd be wary of an auto at that mileage tbh.

I took a 330d from 94k to 165k without too much issues, but depending on what spec it is you see the following:
Automatic-fluid change
Manual-DMF and flywheel change recently. Listen for rattles
Suspension will be well and truly fked by this mileage so either check the work has been done or budget for new stuff
Check the steering self centres otherwise the pump and rack are on their way. Had the steering suddenly go very heavy on mine, I replaced the rack and pump with recon ones. It can be done without dropping the subframe. Check the power steering tank for any metal glitter. Some of the later cars will have EPS.
Check for any chain rattle on start up, and remember that the injectors have a finite lifespan as well. Put the instrument cluster into diagnostic mode and check the coolant temperature as the car needs to get to at least 85 degrees C to do a regen of the DPF.
These are good cars. Miss mine sometimes.
