Reading reports of an F22 crash today near Eglin base. Pilot ejected and safe, no civilian injuries but total lose of the aircraft. No idea what happened, but such a shame to loose an amazing aircraft.

You have to love dyslexia. I read that as Elgin air base and went looking for the story as I might have known the pilot. I was about to post a snotty reply about mentioning that was in Florida and not Scotland....

Eglin just lost a F35A aswell, reading the initial reports in the news. Pilot ejected and alive.

Not been a good few days for the USAF

At least they can replace the F-35A, although I'm sure the USAF would rather be able to replace the F-22 instead.

Yes quite right, I think that makes 186/ 187 operational F22’s left now?

I read an article on the crash stating it puts the USAF at 185 however they didn't include the Fallon crash so potentially even 184? Unless that was repaired, I didn't hear anymore on the Fallon incident other than the pilot was cleared. Interesting that quite a few had been retired already as well.

Here is an ex USAF F-16 pilots view. Interesting channel, he also flew F-18’s for the USN and is now a commercial airline pilot.

He didn’t fly tanks for the navy though ;-)
