Fitting Fishman preamp to an acoustic

Has anyone had success fitting one of these Fishman (chinese copy) piezo/mic preamps to an acoustic guitar?



I bought one from here - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252943017189 but there is no sound from either the mic or the piezo, so I think it must be faulty but before I return it I just wanted to check I'm not missing something.

Just in case anyone has the same problem, it was not a faulty unit. Before the 1/4" socket is installed, it allows the plug to go in further than it should, which prevents the tip from connecting. Once the socket is installed in the guitar with the large nut, the plug sits about 1-2mm further out which makes a better connection.
