Theres no lack of power, no blow-by. No loss of oil. It sometimes lags randomly, normally at higher speed. The blue smoke is only sometimes evident when revving on idle. I've replaced: Oil, oil filter, injectors, fuel pump, checked timing, replaced pressure sensor, replaced rail sensor (non genuine), replaced rocker cover due to oil leak (non genuine). Opinions?

It's worn oil seal rings in the turbo bearings.
A new turbo cartridge would cure that. They're the complete turbo internals, the bearing spindle, bearings, turbine blades ect and come fully balanced ready to fit once the turbo is off the car. Available for approx £50 to £80.

Tried to put a link up but can't do it for some reason atm.
Ebay, £48 Inc postage. Much cheaper than a new unit, all that's required is new oil & filter..

Hi buddy, are you sure?

I've just gone out to the car again now and revved it, zero smoke at all. Would that also solve the intermittent lagging I get?

Why would oil and filter need changing after replacing the internals of a turbo? I was thinking to change the turbo itself with a used one for about £100 but didn't bother in the end. Internal cartridge easy to DIY?

Could you put up just the item number?

So strange.

193022433955 is the item number. Changing the oil and filter is the thing to do when replacing a turbo, it gets rid of contaminents and the new turbo is running on fresh oil.
Changing the cartridge is an easy job, youll likely spend more time removing it though, im not sure re accessability on your engine.

As for lag, this could also be down to worn bearings. Once the air intake is off youll be able to assess wear by trying to move the spindle with your finger, there shouldnt be any discernable movement. Very worn bearings can cause the turbine blades to catch the housing.

Cheers,

I did check the spindle, no movement at all. A couple drops of oil under it though....

Is that the standard exhaust? It's a bit noisier than I had expected.

Standard and normal sound. Maybe my phone makes it sound louder.
