fiat 500 1.2 cutting out at speed
Discussion
My cousin has a 2013 500 1.2 and keeps having the recurring problem of the car cutting out at speed and then no faults are shown. At first it was thought it was the black box, not that. Then they thought battery, not that. Its been fine fine for a while then happened again today. Turn the car on and off and its fine, but its very dangerous!!
She's now refusing to drive as she's scared.
Any help would be great!!

Could it be a dodgy connection on the ignition switch? This could stop the engine and wouldn’t leave any trace behind.
When you say ‘black box’, presume you mean the engine management? A dodgy crankshaft sensor or cam sensor could cause the engine to stop, but should really store a fault code. A cheap OBDII code reader would tell you (less than £20 on Amazon)
Also check earth lead from battery.
A common electrical issue is that the wiring harness to the tailgate can chafe. Not sure this would kill the engine, but well worth checking.
