Is there an app available that logs speed & roads travelled?

Looking for an iPhone app that keeps GPS data such as speed and route travelled that I could use to prove what speed I was travelling along any given road. Something that records it along with time/date/etc?
I got pulled the other night doing 60 on a National speed limit, single carriageway road - within the speed limit as my needle showed 60mph but Waze GPS shows me at 57/58 when car reads 60. PC accused me of doing 'at least 80' (he'd come soaring up behind me from quite a distance and then lit me up).
He was quite adversarial and wasn't interested in my continued assertions that I was not over the posted speed limit - in fairness to him he may well have believed 100% that I was doing that speed but I was well aware he was there (from about 1km away) so I made completely sure I was not speeding at any point. Made me think for future use I should have something like this running in the background on the phone as the argument about who was right lasted about 8 mins (recorded the whole thing, audio only so not shoving a camera in his face which only antagonises I should think).
He stomped off in the end saying something about it had been annotated on my record that I'd been stopped and spoken to about excess speed which a.) didn't seem at all fair as I wasn't speeding and b.) sounded a bit sinister - as if I get stopped again they'll be some kind of 'pattern of behaviour' they can use against me...?
I haven't been stopped in over a decade so this encounter was not pleasant and didn't exactly endear me to the BiB.
Be interested to hear other peoples' thoughts on the above?

I use Speedometer GPS Pro. That is Android, but may be available for Iphone. Cost less than £2 when I paid for it a few years ago.
Does everything you wanted and is an excellent app. Gives you a map overlay that you can tap on to see your speed at that location.

Be careful what you wish for 
Do you really want a record of the previous 10 miles (YMMV
) of "making progress" before you spotted the police car?
I've no idea if the police could seize/require production of/know about such a thing. But if it could work for you it might also work the other way.

Indeed, plus I very much doubt that your 'proof' would be accepted in your defence? (could be faked etc.) but quite likely to be used against you if it shows you 'making progress'.Do you really want a record of the previous 10 miles (YMMV

Thanks for the comments thus far. I'm not daft enough to show any 'proof' of my speed unless I'd been behaving the whole trip but I hear what you're saying. It's more for proving that I'd been 'a good boy' prior to noticing plod. He was well out of order with me and would have been supremely satisfying to be able to have given him the polite middle finger with my own proof - especially after I suggested he couldn't/didn't have any proof of me doing 80 and he replied 'I don't need evidence'...

I use an app called “MotionX GPS” on my iPhone, but I don’t know whether on not it’s available for Android. If it isn’t, I’m sure there will be other similar apps. Like any GPS app, it does take a bit of practice to get the most out of it, but as an example, you can track journeys, with data including speed, time, distance, map overview, etc. There’s a lot of data available, but the potential downside (for what you’d like it for) is that the speed only updates every two minutes or so. So if you spent a minute at 80mph and a minute at 40mph, your speed would show as 60mph (I think - my maths might not be right, but you hopefully get what I mean).
As well as the map overview, you can also view the speed/altitude data graphically, either speed OR altitude, or both, overlaid on each other. I’ve just grabbed some screen shots from one of my saved trips on my motorbike In Sweden, although the car icon is shown, as it doesn’t given a motorbike option for type of activity, there are lots of other options from walking, cycling, running, sailing, etc.

Nothing has been recorded. Not sure about this.... I was under the impression that it was established quite a while ago that a single officers testimony was worth no more than any other person/member of the public so his view I was speeding vs my view that I was not, with no corroborating evidence is merely hearsay? This isn't going any further anyway, so time to move on

This was an actual bike ride, it's set to kph, not mph (there is an option).
