Would the flapper system and ancillaries go on or are mods required (front end?) :scratchchin:

Just throw it in and fix whatever problems you find

The engine mounts, in and out manifold and gearbox fixings are the same arent they?

It should all just bolt up, i know of several wedge owners who have x-bolted 4.6 blocks in their cars. you might have to chop and change some pieces like alternator mounting. But all the major bits should just fit. If you're planning on re-using your std flapper ecu on a hotwire engine you might need a bit of re-mapping work as its likely the engine spec will be different. Also check the injector resistances as this could cause problems if the chim parts are modern low impedence parts and then used with the wedge injector drivers

Pretty much. The mtgs may differ but presumably your old engine has them?

Well the chim exhaust manifolds are very different too and definately will not fit a wedge,so you would have to offer the wedge manifolds up to the Chim heads.
Also, depending on the year of the engine you would have to move some of the ancillaries about.

If I do it I'm hoping to just use the Chimp 'tall' engine and bolt all the old stuff to it.

If what you mean is a serpentine spec engine, then mines had a 4 litre block mated with all the original heads, ancillaries, air meter etc retained. All seems to work ok!

Probably no help but mine is a Range Rover unit. Fits and works but looks like a few mods on the way. Have to check the mountings?

Thanks I'm in no real rush to upgrade but this one does look interesting.

It is not quite that straightforward as the serp engine has pipes in different places, with different sizes and so on. The ancillaries are quite different and don't easily bolt on. For a start the pulleys are not compatibleand they don't line up. Nothing that can't be overcome but be prepared for a lot of fettling.

With Steve on that one, be prepared for a lot of fettling.
I put in a Chim 4.5 BV that was pre serpentine and that used a different water pump arangement which meant big hassle in fitting dist from 400, all the belts and pulleys had to be rearranged to fit.
I stuck with a flapper system that I bought for a 450 with jag afm, injectors etc but still need a decent ecu to sort out the top end fueling as it runs out of full at 5000 revs - Thinking about Mark Adams to adjust the flapper ecu to suit if possible ?

All in all good fun once in and well worth the effort if you can do it all yourself. ( Not the 2 weekends job I hoped it might be, more like 6 - 8 weekends in the end) But on retrospect I think I should have pulled the front timing cover of the old engine and then everything would have dropped into place a lot quicker.

Nahh bottled it. Bit weary of buying a lump off the floor like that & still working on the boss
Probably go for some sort of new solution over the winter. The need for speed is a terrible thing.
