The well-used technique of cover-up, obfuscation and lies followed by delay, delay and delay so that an inquiry takes years and evidence can go missing.
Is that what is happening in the IOPC inquiry into the killing of Sean Fitzgerald?
The IOPC know the identity of Sean’s killer.
The weapon is in evidence.
We assume the bullet(s) that ended Sean’s life are in evidence.
The police officers’ body cam’ video should be in evidence (assuming it has not conveniently disappeared).
It would be good that the IOPC issue an update explaining what exactly is taking so long.

The police are no angels by far.
I remember in the 1980's when the police were found to be deliberately setting up the Lion intoxometer to give a 'failed to take test' result, in order to get convictions for failure to take breath test.
The police set the machine up so that instead of it allowing the regulation time to blow, the machine cut off within second which did not give the accused time to blow.
When it was subsequently discovered that the machine could be interfered with many people claimed compensation and their licenses were reinstated.
Power corupts. Just look on this forum at some of the comments. The police choose whether to report for offence based on the way they are spoken to(power trip), and not on whether the offence has been committed or not.
It makes the police even worse when they are given, tasers(currently under investigation for misuse again), CS gas ,battons, spit hoods, rigid handcuffs and stab vests. All to protect THEM! I thought ther job was to protect US!

What on earth is wrong with having PPE? You could use the same logic (or lack of it) for those working in hospitals. Police have discretion. It is essential for policing by consent. However, they have little time to make up their minds. They need to assess whether the person is likely to commit the offence again. Mouthing off against authority figures, stroppy coppers, and you would not believe what else - perhaps you know - tends to suggest to some, perhaps, that an honest desire to sin no more is not apparent.
