Hi Guys

Anybody got one of these? Took delivery of one today and its been on for about 2 hours. The temp it says is climbing gradually despite it being on cooling down and told it to go as low as possible.

I can feel the cold air coming from it but temp going up about a degree an hour?

Am I being a tit? It's not set to heat up !

Cheers

What do you expect it to do? It's presumably only moving air about, unlike an air conditioner that actually pumps heat around.

I presumed when you entered the target temp it might actually get near it....otherwise why have the option of entering a target temp?

If its like my Meaco one then it'll auto adjust the speed and movement in an attempt to get the temp down, its not an air con unit though so it can only work with what it has

All it does is move air around. It doesn't cool the air at all.

I assume the temp is not a 'target' as such but rather a threshold that if hit (through nothing to do with the fan) the fan will switch off.

I suspect that may well work when it is heating. I am at a loss as to how it might do anything to cool things down. The air movement may make things feel cooler.

From memory it doesn’t actually have a cooling element, it creates ‘cool’ by decreasing the air pressure through its ‘hoop’ making the air less dence and therefore feeling cooler.

In the current weather anything other than a fan with actual cooling element would struggle.

As an aside when my mother was in Various Worcestershire hospitals over Christmas 2018/19 they removed the Dyson fans from every ward as they were believed partly responsible for moving infections around. There were hundreds of them taken out of use. I wonder where they all went.?

Sounds like you have a Pure Hot & Cool Link.

As above, it doesn’t cool the air. If the display shows a temperature, it’s on heat mode. Press the blue button on the remote and it will go int cool mode which just moves air around.

It’s not an air con unit - it’s a fan with a heating element.

The temp setting is purely for heating to hold at that level.

Moving the air around the room (with heating element off) will help it feel fresher than it otherwise would. It’s silent too which is better than the louder circular fans.

Air con unit if you want to cool a house down.

How much volume of air does it circulate relative to the Dyson. Just making sure it’s apples with apples

I wouldn't have a clue

I wanted a quiet fan that would shift some air, started looking at the Dyson and then decided to save £450 on this instead rofl

It goes up to 12 and when it's on 12 it's like a fking hurricane in the room is all I know

Surely the Dyson wouldn't provide any cooling at all. In fact, the motor would actually generate heat.

So it's an expensive fan heater?

It is indeed, that also purifies (very effectively actually, it can even clear the smoke in the kitchen when my wife has been "cooking").

Currently eyeing up one of those Meaco ones....

Seems an awful lot for a fan tho...

Moving hot air around would make a closed room hotter, it would only work with a window open, then you may as well buy a 20 quid jobby, but it looks nice. What are they 300 quid?

Edit 550 quid no wonder he didn't make cars when you can build over priced fans in sweat shops and sell to Joe Bloggs.
