Ok I’m beaten.

Just got some AirPod pros. They are great, working with all my apple stuff perfectly as I would expect.

However I can’t get them to work with zoom on my surface pro. (yes I know I can use zoom on my iPad, but I have a network cable in to my surface pro). They work perfectly with the likes of iPlayer, but when it comes to zoom I can only get the mic to work. Headphones showing connected but can’t get any sounds out of them.

Anyone able to help me with which obvious thing I’ve failed to do wink

I'm sure this was mentioned recently and there was a setting somewhere that had to be changed. I'll have a look.

Sorry, had to cook a delicious curry. Also can't find what you need. I can't remember if it was settings in Windows or in Zoom. It will come to me but that could take days.

You probably have to set your earpods as the default sound source or set the as the default for the zoom app.
Just go to sound setting and advanced options.

I did a zoom conference yesterday using airpods pro and windows 10.

This is how i did it I think

1 Obviously make sure it is connected in bluetooth , mine says connected Voice, Music

2 Go to the volume control on the task bar and click on it so the slider pops up, bu default mine has Speakers (Contexant ISST Audio). Click on the small arrow on the right and I then have various choices, two of them mention Airpods, one says Headphones and one says Headset.
Pick the headset (Airpods Pro Hands-free AG audio) make sure to turn the volume slider all the way down then the smallest bit up because it is very loud through the headphones.

3 Go to Zoom settings and into the Audio section, then for both Speaker and Microphone Pick the Headset (Airpods Pro Hands-free) option. Keep the volume low, for me anything above the minimum is way too loud.

This works for me but knowing Windows something is probably different on yours. This was on a HP EliteBook laptop.

Hope this helps.

They definitely don’t work for teams yet. People are going mad on the Microsoft support forum. Microsoft doing the usual and ignoring what the masses want.

Just as an aside you can plug a network cable into an iPad using the lighting to USB camera connection kit and a usb to ethernet dongle. It's a bit of janky way of doing it, but works a treat.

I have AirPod pros and windows 10.

Most video conference services will let me use the AirPods when selecting them in the Bluetooth menu there’s two options for AirPods and I have to select the one with voice. In doing so the sound quality is crap.

But, I don’t use my air pods for anything other than teams! That may not make sense based on the previous response.

Here is why...........

I normally use microphone and speakers for everything except teams. Teams has an echo that is unbearable for everyone else that I can’t get rid of and makes no sense when everything else works. The only work around I have found is using the AirPods. Unfortunately, Teams doesn’t seem to recognize the AirPod microphone so I still use the web cam microphone. For me, this works seamlessly and has the added benefit of better sound quality on the air pods than if they were handling the microphone as well.

Out of all the video conference systems I have used, Teams has been by far and away the worst. It’s constantly failing to connect or giving me errors. That’s if I’m logged in or not. The echo has been the source of huge frustration as well. We only use Teams if forced by customers and normally try to switch the meetings over to our own system.

in the old fashioned sound devices control panel do the test sounds work, both as speakers and Mic?

My bet is that the Mic VU meter thing isn't responding.

Hope I'm wrong, you won't like the fix :/
