Powerline with an access point or WiFi extender?
Discussion
We currently have 4 x Comtrend powerline adaptors, they have been very reliable and allow me to stream films from NAS drive to TV’s. But they are lot homeplug compatible, they use a UPA protocol.
We have a 1970’s house with solid internal walls, so the WiFi can be flaky in places, ideally I’d plug in a powerline to pick up the Ethernet and repeat it.
But, I can’t find such a thing that is UPA compatible, so my choice is replace the lot with Homeplug standard units with WiFi or have an extender with a separate WiFi network.
This first is going to be expensive, £100+, but the second could be a ball ache with the second WiFi network.
Are extenders much use? Is the second network thing a pain? Is the another option I didn’t think of!
Thanks
