Evening all, I have one of these:

Which is now five years old, it still works fine, still does 10 hours on a charge and all is generally spot on bar the fact it has an i5 4300U processor which is really showing its age these days so I want to upgrade to something that is just as tough, has similar battery life and a current processor. Hot swappable battery, LTE/4G and the ability to turn into a tablet is also a bit of a must, although I guess I could do without the latter if absolutely necessary.

The problem is I can't actually find anything. Panasonic don't make a CF-C2 any more or any sort of replacement for it. The closest seems to be the Dell Rugged stuff but they have stopped doing a version with a flip screen and also they are pretty big and chunky or a Toughbook 20 but they don't really seem much of an upgrade being a tablet basically (3K for a new one with half the RAM and SSD size of my current C2). I don't need the full mil-spec rugged level that the CF30 Toughbooks and larger Dell Rugged stuff are, but "business rugged" like a Thinkpad just won't cut it.

Any suggestions as to something suitable would be much appreciated, or any feedback on stuff that isn't necessarily sold as rugged but will survive being dropped and getting wet on a fairly daily basis.

I couldn't find anything that would be a worthwhile upgrade and meet the spec you listed.

The cf-c2 was unique in the marketplace, which unfortunately doesn't have a direct replacement.

I don't think many other people are setting up old F1 cars in the rain with laptops. biggrin

Unfortunately not, but thank you very much for looking. Really appreciate it and at least it confirms I wasn't missing something.

The CF-C2 really does feel like someone designed it specifically to address my day jobs requirements so it's a shame there is no replacement for it. There isn't a lot I can do to speed mine up more either, it already has 16GB RAM (despite Panasonic saying you can't do that laugh ) and an 860 Evo SSD.

It's only one big data crunching program it struggles with these days, for everything else it's still perfect so I will decide if I accept it's a 20 second wait on that one or buy something to go with it for data crunching that doesn't need to do the outside bit quite as often.

Thanks again!
