Bands/Artists you just don't 'get'...

Popped in to my head this morning that whilst I don't like a lot of stuff, I can get it's appeal, I wouldn't ever say that my music taste is superior to someone elses. The likes of Sheeran, taylor swift etc. It's not my thing but fair play to them.
One I've never quite understood is Kiss. I just don't see the appeal, I love a lot of stuff from the same era so I don't think it's a generation thing as such but every time I listen to them I think to myself "This is a bit s
t" 
. It's not to say that they are bad but it's just beyond me why they are so big!
So, try persuade me

or what artists are there that you feel similar about? Ed Sheeran is good..... but in a good pub singer kind of way. And I've seen plenty of pub singers better that will never achieve the same level of success.
Elvis.... Tom Jones was (is) a much better singer
Kiss. I do like them. You have to look beyond the music a bit and recognise that you're watching a live cartoon of a rock act, something that they themselves have perpetuated over the years. It's a show and an act. The music's alright but wouldn't really stand up on its own.

21st Century pop music, anything on Heart Radio, Coldplay.
Sounds sweeping but when I say 21st Century pop music, I really can't think of anything in the charts over the past twenty years that I've liked.
With the exception of Long Hot Summer by Girls Aloud in 2009 which was a cracking pop tune.

Manic Street Preachers. The early output & image was grim. DIY spray painted slogans on shirts, carving arms open in interviews, scissor jumps & ste poses. Later on the slogans on shirts eased off & the punk riffs morphed into AOR. Never got them, the headline slots & the press fawning.
That said “Kevin Carter” was a good single.

Ditto Coldplay - never got them and why Chris Martin paints that red blue thingy on his hand - he's probably trying to be edgy. About as edgy as a fat accountant on a Harley.
Tom Jones - if you gave me a pencil and said draw a sex pest, I'd draw him.
Lewis Capaldi - sings like he is making it up as he goes along and depressing enough to make Morrissey sound like Chico.
Then again, sometimes it pays to listen again to an artist and re-appraise them. Elton John for one. Used to hate him but then read his autobiography and revisited some of his stuff and changed my mind. Likewise I used to struggle with Metronomy, but have really taken to them.

I dislike pretty much all modern pop but I do have a guilty pleasure for cheesy 90's stuff.
In terms of bands and long-running artists / groups though...
The Beatles: Apparently a blasphemous statement but I've tried to give most of their stuff a go and just haven't found anything that really interests me. Not to downplay their importance to music in general, I just don't like it.
Coldplay: It's just background noise IMO. The Vauxhall Astra of bands.
Elvis: Along with practically any 'rockabilly' style music. I acknowledge his impact etc but hate the music.
UB40: Red Red Wine etc just remind me of pissed-up Brits singing karaoke in a pub in Benidorm.
Mumford & Sons: A banjo. Wow.
Kanye West: Although perhaps covered by the 'modern pop (+ rap)' umbrella, he deserves a special mention. Head so far up his own arse it beggars belief, and his almost cult-like following that seem to view him as the second coming of Christ...
Billie Eilish: I honestly just don't think her music is anything special at all. Successful for her age, sure, credit where it's due, but...
(Pop stuff is easy to pick because most of it is designed to be simple, catchy, basic, so I'm giving the majority a pass because while I don't like any of it, I do 'get' it and it's purpose. But the above 2 I do think are wildly overrated.)
