Upgrading brakes problem
Discussion
Hi All.
Some time ago I bought a new front brake setup fro HiSpec. Due to everything I ordered at the time turning up too late the project was put on hold.
Now I am furloughed I have time on my hands and have dived back into the garage!
I removed one of the brake discs today today and compared it with the upgraded one.
Bit of a difference!

The picture should show the problem.
I know that the disc is larger in diameter, that is intentional. The problems are:-
a) the thickness of the disc is different, which will change the track.
b) the hub carrier should bolt to the disc but the holes in the disk are not tapped.
Which bits are wrong, or what do I need to order?

I fitted a Hyspec brake upgrade to my 350i several years ago and it was fabulous. The disc was slightly thicker but made no real difference to the track (5mm wider?). The brake kit didn't come with all the fixings so I complained to them and they sent me a set of through bolts and backing nuts to hold the disc to the bell, rather than using the original fixings. It's just dawned on me that the difference in thickness makes no odds as the disc is mounted to the hub, not vice versa, so the wheels will be in the same position!
I'll get some nuts and washers to bolt the hub and disc together.
Cheers
(Mine is the 4-pot upgrade as posted on your original thread btw)
When I ordered it there was an option on the kit menu for the 350i but I cant see it there now, but they do the Granada Mk 2 kit, so it's the same unit, but pictures now show a different design of disc and bell. I found them very helpful so give them a call. Kit wasn't cheap though, think it was just shy of £800 with VAT, delivery, grooved discs and red calipers.
