Charging cable across pavement.
Discussion
My wife's company have installed charging points at her work and she is now super keen on getting an iPace.
Unfortunately we don't have off-street parking but we do have 'reliable' access to the front and rear of the house.
What are the current rules for trailing cables across the pavement with suitable ducting?

Seems a regular question, thread already running here:-

Contact your local council and ask about it. They might have a scheme in place for people like you.
What Hampshire think:https://www.hants.gov.uk/transport/ev-charging-poi...
I personally wouldn't risk it in the claims culture in which we live.

If you wife has charging at work you would probably not need to charge at home. Ipace is a great car. Had mine for 6 months and love it. Unfortunately we don't have off-street parking but we do have 'reliable' access to the front and rear of the house.

In an emergency just sit on a rapid charger for 30-60 mins.

No doubt a change in routine is required but I think it will be worth it.
Really interested to hear your thoughts on the iPace.

They need that wireless charging like you can do for your phone. I think they are trialing a system for the taxis in Nottingham
Unfortunately the charging energy cannot be beamed that far, like across the pavement, without hazardous field intensities. More hazardous than a trip...Wireless charging just means the car doesn't have to plug in but precisely park over a transmitting coil buried in the road. Which still needs to be powered.

i would look into unofficially installing a pavement drain to keep the cable in, no hassle and no trip hazzardhttps://www.hants.gov.uk/transport/ev-charging-poi...

Longer term we will have to move to either posts along the street with RFID to link the consumption up to your home account or reserved parking spaces outside people's homes.
In some European countries like Norway if one person in a road asks for charging infrastructure they just do the whole road. RFID based.

You hit the nail on the head with 'LongerTerm'In some European countries like Norway if one person in a road asks for charging infrastructure they just do the whole road. RFID based.
Because, now, at this moment in time, we are not in a position to use EV'S as a mode of transport for the masses.
No amount of arguing will change this.
