Folks, Wanted some advice on waypoints on my Gamin Nuvo 350.

I used some web based route planning tool to mark out a route - deliberately picking a nice route on interesting roads.

When I pulled the GPX export into Garmin Basecamp and the uploaded into the device, I get a lot of waypoints (corresponding to where I clicked on the map). Of itself, thats ok, but the challenge is the Garmin doesn't seem to want to just route me to the end destination - only to the next waypoint, and I keep having to click on the screen to advance to the next waypoint - which is quite annoying.

Clearly, on the route planning app , I can just click start and destination, but then I lose the ability to dictate the precise route.

Ideally, I'd like an 'auto advance' thing on the garmin so it just keeps moving to the next way point while I ride, and not having to need me to click 'next'

Any ideas, or better way?

If you have loaded the file to the Garmin then also try this.

1. Make sure that recalculation is turned off ('setting' > 'navigation' > 'recalculation).
2. Go to 'Apps'.
3. Choose 'Tracks'.
4. Select the track you would like to import.
5. Click the 'Wrench'.
6. Select 'Show on map'.
7. Click 'Convert to trip'.
8. Choose 'Begin to end'.
9. You can change the name now if you would like this.
10. Click 'Ok'.
11. The device will calculate the route and save it to the 'Tripplanner'.
12. Go to 'Apps' and then to 'Tripplanner'.
13. Select the converted track and click 'Go!'
14. Select 'Begin'.
15. The device will calculate the route.
16. Click 'Start', you can now start riding.

Garmin hardware is great but their software is clunky to say the least.

Personally I use my BMW Navigator V by deciding on a route using Google maps and then picking waypoints along the route using Basecamp and then upload them. I then navigate from Waypoint to Waypoint. You just need to pick the waypoints so the only option for the device is to follow the route you decided on.
