Just interested as to people’s experience currently please. Have the dealers still got the “massive waiting list/not worth wasting your time trying to get one sir” or are there a fair few cancelled orders hence you can now get a new car if you want potentially?

I just ordered one, to be precise; 26-10-2019, with restriction it has to be PDK, expectations then for delivery 06-2020

Only had a 981Cayman GTS buying history there.

But now we have COVID-19, no where a sign of official Porsche PDK confirmation, only some magazines stating it wil be announced by the end of this year.

Car manufactures have a very bad time at the moment, so it remains to be seen what is going to happen.

Wouldn't be surprised it is not going to happen at all if the Corona Crisis will take more time than anticipated.

The 4 OPCs that know I’m interested in a Spyder haven’t been on the phone to me yet. Make of that what you will.

Spyder going to be a fair bit harder to get than GT4 I suspect. Interested to hear if they eventually do get back to you....

There’s always been high resale Numbers of these cars.

Been discussed to death with the Gen1 and several threads on it.

718 Spyder sitting at list price on auto trader and not moving is a sign of changed times. Like others have said probably still a challenge to get one to order though not impossible. GT4 is a different matter as much greater supply.

I doubt there will be any movement until things become a bit more normal.

I had interested parties in my GT4 wanting to buy, and even when I offered to sell at a lower price they asked for, they backed out.

Even before this, I backed out new order on GT4 and glad i did. I don’t think anything will sell unless it’s below market value as people try to manage the uncertainty.

Yes that red Spyder at £82K has been sitting there for a wee while now. Makes the main dealer cars at £20K more look more than a little daft!

There's a reason it's been sat there, it's red! Discussed at length in another thread.

Sorry I disagree that is the reason for no sale thus far because its RED .I have had 2 Spyders both RED the 987 I still have, had it for 7years now and if I wanted to sell it have 2 people who are interested in it with only 13k miles because it is RED .I sold the 981 in Feb 2018 with 4k miles on the clock and it sold on here within 24hrs ,could have sold it 3 times over ,It did not have sat nav nor phone and people said it will never sell without these ,how wrong they where .I would buy that RED one if was in the market for a 718 .I would never buy BLACK or SILVER ,boring colours IMO ,There is a buyer for every car just some take longer to find a new owner.

You may love red Spyders but you're in the minority. White, silver and black are all more popular than red based on new sales, and in the case of silver and white a LOT more popular.

There's a buyer for every car of course but red Spyders don't fly off the shelves, hence the 718 one sitting.

If I was looking to buy I’d actually go for red as well, certainly over a safe colour.

It’s colour is to an extent a red herring for me! The really significant thing In my mind Being that it’s effectively a delivery miles 718 Spyder for sale at list price - could anyone have seen that coming even early this year?

Yep - I fully expected the 718 Spyders and GT4s to have zero "overs", even pre-COVID. I (was and still am) expecting to lose plenty of cash on mine over the years...

Most of the sales staff are on furlough. Plus there will be a backlog of demand v lost production to begin with.
A friend of mine was offered a cancelled GT4 a couple of weeks ago.

you actually bought your new 718 Spy /Gt4 expecting to loose cash ? Not sure about that statement ,you must be one off the only ones who expected to loose cash immediately .My 987 had for 7years inc services if I sold now would have cost me nothing in my ownership .My 981 which I sold in 2018 after 2 years ownership I made money on it and if it was sold now by the new owner I recon he would still get his money back as the 981 is still holding there values relative to what they cost new .

Yes, as I said I expected to lose money on my 718 GT4 from the off. Porsche planned to produce more of them than they did of the 981 version and the market had changed even pre-COVID. I'm also planning on driving my car rather than just looking at it in a garage and polishing it every so often hehe

Not everyone buys a car as an investment or is obsessed about maintaining resale value.
