Both these advertisements came from one magazine !

The year ? 2003 and it kicked off my interest in RS and GT3 ... (which at the time it was said replaced the previous RS models but with a Clubsport append for the track version ...)

That’s the year I bought my house, which has increased in value by approx 2.5 times.

The internet has played a big part in (some) car prices, mainly them that have become widely recognised as ‘special ‘ models, and I get and understand that, It’s the stuff that has piggyback’d on the back of these specials I don’t.

25-35k though. Wow biggrin

As someone currently considering an RS and could have bought one then it’s slightly frustrating...but then a 2.7RS was £50k and a mate bought a Muira for £57k in 2003. Ho hum ! My excuse was I was living in London and only had on street parking......had enough trouble getting wheels nicked off less exotic machinery.

I’ve got the advert somewhere, was it in Top Marques ?
Edit to add, the ads looks like they were in the 911 & Porsche World classifieds ?

Good days. Around the same time, in my early 20's while all my mates were financing mk4 gt tdi's and new civic type r ep3's at £20+k, I bought a low mile e30 m3 evo sport 2.5 for £12k from a specialist near London.

Had a very memorable drive up to Stranraer to the boat home. Can't remember how long I kept it, maybe 18 months but couldn't believe that I got my 12k back for it. irked

Takes me straight to the only deal i made that i have pulled out of.

2004.

Agreed to p/x my mint 51k mile red / crema 964 c4 for a bright blue 964 turbo 3.6...my car plus £17k.

After a weekend thinking long and hard, i just did not see it being worth £17k more.

Last time i seen it for sale, it was sitting with a £289k price tag.

I always fancied a 993gt.... I couldn’t afford them when I got my 993 turbo - 40k vs £75k and still couldn’t afford it in 2011 @ £175k and definitely can’t afford one now £1m

I remember around 2004 being offered a 2 owner bmw e30 m3 evo2 for £11k, the car had less than 15 thousand miles on the clock. I believe the first owner was a formula one driver.

A few family members said I was off my trolley and said no one would want a old lhd e30 m3, so like a sheep I decided to pull out of the deal and used the money on a property.

And then on another occasion around 2009 when I just had a new boxster delivered I got offered a 996 Gt3 rs for £55k by my OPC, I choice not to go for this as I thought it may of been a little ott to drive around in. How wrong was I!

Just goes to show how much some cars have increased in price since mid 2005 and 2010.

If you believe some of the things posted in the other Porsche forum pages this is an advert from the future, about this time next year....

I had 7k burning a hole in my pocket and shortlisted a 2yr old Ducati 748 and an E28 M5. Needless to say I didn't end up with ol' Sharky.

Signal Green M003 currently for sale at TJS - only 15800kms now - hasn't been driven much in those 17 years. Shame.

If so, there are a lot of buyers on here ...

I feel that my time with the Porsche classics has been a charmed existence ... I am not averse to dining out on the stories and one day ?? I really nearly bought a CGT for £250k which would have blown my car playing for a very long time but ....

Since then I've concentrated on lower individual value with more variety.

It had done 50,000 mile in Fiance Yellow ... clearly worthless now ... and still on my mind !

I went to view the Maritime RHD ‘64 RS at Shirley’s.
It was up at £35K, it looked tired and had corrosion to the leading edge of the bonnet and the mag wheels.
Seemed a bit toppy when compared to my LHD Midnight blue example, so I walked.
Of course DB went on to buy it and spend copious amounts of wedge making it into something truly stunning. He sold at just the right time IMO.
I followed suit with my LHD ex Techart Ferrari yellow example, but I was about six months late to the market and had the dubious pleasure of selling via a well known German RS specialist dealer whose name rhymes with 5hits. punch

Good issue that one, in fact i might have to go and dig it out of the pile of old ‘car porn’ mags in the man cave.

Ha, I still have those 911&P world issues as well!

2001 was the time when I bought my first 911, 964 Carrera 2 coupe manual (LHD) for £15k. I do recall that the RSs were indeed £25k which was way out of my budget. The 2.4S (1972) were in the range £15~20k and they were my other option, didn't buy as too concerned about rust.

So, whats a good 964 C2 worth now? £60k? Would still be quids out once storage and maintenance are taken into account (say £4k/yr *20yrs =£80k)!
