£600 car with 15k miles worth it?

Looking to buy a 56 plate fiat punto sport 1.4 petrol it has 150k miles on it. Love the car going to view it Wednesday but the milage is a little high this type od car obviously is French and has a name of being unreliable. Just wondering if these miles are alright on these engines for the year or would I be walking into a money pit any help is appreciated! I know you get what you pay for, for a car of that price but it's been in as a part exchange hense the price.

Obviously!You are considering an Italian! Car which is 14 years old and has 150k miles on and you.are buying it for £600!
Its like this really, if it has 12 months MOT and is seeming ly in good condition and you get 12 months use out of it with no big bills then you have done well out of it.
Any car at this age and mileage and price should be considered disposable upto a point. If you know anything about cars give it a good look over and under, if you don't then take someone who does.
You.buy on condition above anything else but don't expect much, or a warranty.
As for it being a part ex, the garage will have said it wasn't worth anything and gave the previous owner maybe a £100- £150 trade in value.

I actually had this year and model of car as my first car and it was surprisingly reliable however as it reached 100k miles the power steering started to fail which can be an expensive fix. Car was written off at 110k miles and the scrap guys joked how they rarely see them make 100k alive...

Spend 1.5-2k on something Japanese like a Honda Civic and you'll have a much lower risk of trouble.

Good advice here, even if he can’t up the budget I’d say an older Civic would be a good shout, I had an X reg 1.4 as a cheap run around that went on forever and didn’t cause problems.In response to your question, I would consider the car but only if you're prepared to scrap it if any big bills come up. An old Avensis or Yaris wouldn’t be a bad idea either.
