Collecting a car from Scotland

Can we take a van and trailer to Scotland to collect a customers car in the current situation.

Technically, you could argue it will be our car as we're paying for it, before the customer pays us after the work is done.

Scotland has its own regulations, that haven't yet been eased.

You might want to have a look at section 4 and part 3 of schedule 1 of the scottish regulations.

From government advice

Permitted to travel short distances for outdoor leisure and exercise but advice to stay within a short distance of your local community (broadly within 5 miles) and travel by walk, wheel and cycle where possible.

If a business commercially collecting car probably could I suspect but an individual No

Would it not be more sensible to have it collected and brought to London?

you can if it's business and you cannot alternatively work from home. If it's for recreation then no, not at the moment.

S2red the OP is collecting a customer's car so by definition they will be travelling on business. The regs you refer to relate to people travelling other than on business.

Also would people stop referring to either "essential" travel - a term which doesn't appear in the regs whether in Scotland or England, or government guidance which (a) isn't law and (b) frequently is at odds with the law.

OP get your trailer and go and collect your car.
