Rolling road - dellorto experience- yorks
Discussion
About ready (finally) to get my 105 tuned and have previously been recommended a few places who might be worthwhile for setting up my twin 40 dellorto carbs
Motorscope and Bogg Bros seem to come up quite often. Anyone had recent good/bad experience they can share or of anyone else?
I've got the 123 dizzy and can loan a full set of dellorto jets from the Sunbeam lotus club so am hoping I can get it set up nicely now it's run in.
PM if need be!
Cheers

It was the Bogg Bros old man, Dave Bogg, who I believed 'retired' several years ago now, that was the master DCOE/DHLA tuner. He was/is a legend in the sidedraft carb tuning game, like Pete Baldwin in Cambs. His sons took over the business and renamed it, so if they have learnt all the old mans tricks and skills, then you should be OK there?

Hopefully these places will be opening up if not already. I'll give them a call I think and discuss. I do want someone old school or with the knowledge:-)aeropilot said:

Dave was still at it last year as he set-up my Pinto on 45s powered Mexico first time in May when I arrived with the car covered in snow! Then later in the year when I changed the cam and head. The man is a legend and a joy to watch in action. The previous year I took a single seater fitted with a Millington 2.5 for set-up. Once set-up Dave and both brothers were all big smiles over it as it made big power very big power - all on twin 50sRichard at Motoscope is a top bloke. Set up my Scirocco 16v on twin 45, then back again twice with headwork, cams and ecu. Each time good gains and really feel the difference on the road. Had all the jets and chokes in stock and really knew his carbs/ignition/setup. Highly recommend. Always got some interesting race/rally cars in too.

Good to hear also thanks Adam
I looked at length for a firm who could sort the Dells on my Lotus twincam where I had a bad transition stumble and a rich running condition at the top end - old man Bogg had a go and made some imrpovements at the expense of creating flat spots elsewhere.
I eventually went down to Peter Burgess in Alfreton, Notts, and he did an absolutely superb job at a very, very, reasonable price. He and his staff were on the car for half a day, jets came out were measuerd and found not to be to stated size (even the new ones), solder up, drill, run up again and repeat. It was meticulous, painstaking, process but the results were fantastic.
A real professional, lovely bloke and a true enthusiast to boot. It was a 180 mile journey for me each way but well worth it.
Motorscope have a very good reputation but, without revealing what it cost me at PB's, it would have cost many more times that at Motorscope.

That's why I, and many other people used to travel miles to see Pete Baldwin as well, for that type of service.A real professional, lovely bloke and a true enthusiast to boot. It was a 180 mile journey for me each way but well worth it.

Jesus just happened across this thread. Used Bogs to fit and tune a webber 38 carb to my 1980 Opel Manta B and fit my cherry bomb exhaust in the 80's, and then latterly weld a Peco master silencer onto my Mitsubishi Galant Turbo in the early 90's. Dave was an absolute gentleman and wizard with Webber and Su carbs. The Peco silencer used to set off trembler switches on car alarms on Brid seafront every day lol. lived there for 10 years during my youth.
