What type of fish ?

Hi. Any fishermen out there able to tell me what type of fish this is.
There were over 30 of them all between 6 & 10" long lying around in the sunshine on a hot day today in the small river at the back of our house. It's a small Herefordshire river that runs into the River Wye.
I've looked through various books and Google and they look closest to Rudd or Roach but not they're not 'tall' enough. They're very sleek, long and low (not a humped back). I thought they were brown trout but they don't seem to look anything like the pictures I've found of them.

They definitely aren't trout.
Fin colour is too red for roach UNLESS they are roach/rudd hybrids - crossbreed naturally & causes a lot of ID problems for record claims and 'big fish' pics in the Angling mags.
Can only be id'd definitely by scale & fin ray count plus DNA from a scale & I believe a scale is required for a BRFC claim.
That said, I would lean towards rudd.

One of the tell tale signs between a roach and a rudd is the position of the dorsal fin in relation to the pelvic fins.
On a roach the dorsal fin is in line with the pelvic fins, on a rudd the dorsal fin is located behind the pelvic fins, as in the photos provided.
Assuming, of course that they're not hybrids!
