Hi,

Just acquired a 2017 V12S and am looking to replace the standard P Zero 295/30 R19's with 305's.

I've seen on this forum that it has been done before with no problems raised. I checked with my local AM service centre re possible invalidation of warranty etc They didn't say it would invalidate the warranty but advised to keep the standard tyres. I assume they have to say this in order to cover themselves. Anyone think there is any significant issue with changing from 295 to 305 ?

Thanks.

Whilst I didn't change the sizes, I did move to PS4Ss on all corners. I had the new tyres road-force balanced and the four-wheel alignment dealt with. It went from all over the place to spot on. It's like having a new car, total transformation. The cornering and straight-line acceleration / braking grip from the Michelins is so much better than the PZeros.

I've been impressed by the PS4Ss as well... though then again I was comparing them to a set of bald P-Zeroes!

Did you find that switching cured the lightly hairy effect of flooring it in 3rd at around 50 whilst in a straight line? When I do that I have to hold on for dear life as it does twitch around a bit. Great fun but a little more control would be nice....

For a little extra rear end grip, plus for me I like the look of wide rear tyres biggrin

Yes! Very much. And getting the alignment done meant that flooring it didn't also result in a change in direction as well as speed.

If you keep the same ratio of 30 then it will upset the speedo, as you will have a slightly larger rolling radius on a 305 section tyre.

Please. It will "upset" the speedo by a whole 0.8%, based on calculation of overall wheel/tire diameter.

To the OP, there are no issues at all with 305's IME. I have run them in the past, as well as 295's, due to availability issues (needed replacement rears, wanted PS Cup 2's, and only 305's were available on short notice). Don't expect any meaningful gain in traction. As for looking better, well - I suppose, but it's a pretty tiny increase in width...

Thank you. That was an expensive reply unfortunately. £1,000 on new tyres and £250 on an alignment coming shortly.

Happy to help! If it’s any consolation, that’s pretty much what mine cost. But it was well worth it.

When I first tried a V12S after my V12 I was amazed by the lack of traction and nervousness when driving on track compared to my own car. My car was on Corsas and the S was on standard P Zeros, the difference was night and day. I ordered my AMR with Corsas and other than wearing out no problems.

I'm with Felonious on this - just swapped out the Pzero for Pilot Sport 4S and the car is more planted, has better turn in and is less squirrelly when planting the foot in 2nd and 3rd

I also expect them to be much better when cold and as we are going to the snow later this year I thought that was important

Oh and the 305's will look great!

My impression is that AM chose the Corsa for the V12 and the V12S, but since the Corsa isn’t ideal in a cold wet English winter, they offered Pirelli’s alternative as well. Team up with Pirelli, and you’re stuck with Pirelli’s offerings. Whilst the Corsa is great in warm dry conditions, the P Zeros are not (IMO) that great full stop. They scrabble far too much on damp and cold surfaces, and even in the dry on a warm day in a straight line I’ve had them lose traction in some of the higher gears.

If you think Corsas are good, try PS Cup2's. Way better tire.

Yes, I have PS Cup 2's on the Lotus and they are very impressive on track and road - in the dry !

As I won't be tracking the Aston much at all, I think a nice compromise is looking like PS4S's - with 305's on the rear of course biggrin

Good point, Yes, much better in the cold and damp.

As for 305s, does the collective wisdom of this chat have any opinions on the possibility of increased stone chips to the rear?
