Chippy open in Aylesbury tonight?
Discussion
Shame i did not see this earlier as these guys are your only choice for a proper chippy, all the other good ones are closed either permanently or due to limited hours. And they close in an hour...

Is this a good chippy overall, or is it just the best of those that are open?https://www.codfatherchippy.com/
I'm one of these weird people who will happily travel for decent fish and chips. My current favourite is McCoys in Wendover, but I would travel to Aylesbury if it was worth it. I used to really like the one in Amersham on Hill Avenue, but they closed a few years ago as part of some re-development.
These guys are about a 7 minute walk from me - Always a big queue outside at Friday and Saturday

If I'm honest when I fancy a takeaway fish and chips is rarely at the top of the list (we have some great Chinese and Indians in Aylesbury) but The Codfather was legendary and award winning when it was owned by the dad, now the son owns it some claim it isn't the same. Hi Tide as mentioned above is another chippy here with a very good reputation, some people travel quite far to both.I'm one of these weird people who will happily travel for decent fish and chips. Not sure if a kebab is your thing but in Thame you can grab one that is considered one of the best in the UK

I "discovered" the Thame kebab van about 6 months ago. On a Friday night on the way home, Waze sent me through the middle of Thame rather than round the by-pass. I saw the kebab van, and the huge crowds and was intrigued. Went back about an hour later with the missus - placed our order then went for a drink. Still had to wait about 15 minutes after we got back. It was good, and a huge portion, and I'll definitely go again, but I don't think it's a contender for best in UK.

Yes it did - and I used to go there too (from Prestwood).
It went downhill in the last couple of years before it closed, but it was definitely worth the trip before then.
You must have tried Mr Poons over in the chalfonts too thenIt went downhill in the last couple of years before it closed, but it was definitely worth the trip before then.
Also, prior to Poons used to be a toppy French haute cuisine type place...

I didn't realise there were so many of us from Aylesbury and surrounding.
I'll have to try that kebab van in Thame, not a long drive out from Aylesbury.
I believe you have to place an order over the phone with the current situation in place, as they have picked up these awards over the past 2 years they have become extremely popular (to be honest they have always been busy the past 6 years)I'll have to try that kebab van in Thame, not a long drive out from Aylesbury.

Worth it though, they have won kebab van of the year in 2017,2018 & this year
