Hi Guys,

This is my first post of Pistonheads.I thought I'd find out if any like minded petrol heads where going to Santa Pod this weekend for the Jap Show?

I'm taking my GSX1300R Hayabusa powered Lotus 7 replica. You'll be able to spot me on and around the strip cos I'll be the one that looks about 20yrs to old to be there.I won't be wearing a baseball cap, tons of gold chains etc and my car isn't fitted with a stereo that I can play at ear splitting volumes.Infact it doesn't have a stereo at all!

The nice people have agreed to let me race against other cars in my class i.e. "Other Suzukis!!" ;0)

If you see me around say hello and I might buy you a beer depending on if I'm winning races or saving up for a new engine.......Jez

Just spotted your post mate!

I think I saw your car go down the strip (ello) a few times - SIMLAR in style to a caterham and sort of dodge viper blue ?

I'll keep an eye out for you though as I see your local to the area - perhaps see you soon

Hi Gareth,

Yes mate that was me.It's actually a MG colour.

It was worth the trip cos I picked up a nice big shiny trophie for winning my class.
I won all three of my runs beating a Skyline,Integra type-R and a Toyota starlet fitted with a turbo and Nitrous.

Not bad for a first attempt at Drag racing with just a little 1300 Suzuki motor eh ;0) I'm hooked now so I'll be going again for sure.......Regards Jez

Hi Gareth,

Thanks mate.Yeah it was a cracking weekend apart from the intense heat and virtually no shade.

I'm a little ashamed of my times though even though I walked away with the cup for winning my section. As it was my first crack at drag racing (in a car anyway) when I found myself ahead of the Skyline on my first run I made a descision to not rag the car to death and only to do what was needed to win my class. The idea being if I could beat Skylines and Integras etc I should easily win my class.Looking at my 3 runs for the day 14.01secs was my best 1/4 time and 94mph was my best terminal.I was short shifting at 8500rpm cos that seemed to pushing me along at a fair rate of knots.

However in hindsight I wish I'd really gone for it cos I reackon I may have been able to squeeze a 11.5 sec 1/4 with a terminal of 125mph+.I'll just have to get my backside over there again and have another go eh! only next time I'll give it it's head in every gear and see if the results are what I'm expecting ......Regards Jez
