My 2 boys now have Amazon Fire HD 8 tablets which they use for learning etc but I want dont want them speding hours watching youtube on them.

Can anyone recommend something that I could plug in to my router and block sites/monitor each device?

I can block access to sites from my BT router but then none of us can access it

Thanks

Look for Parental Controls in your router where you can set the internet access times linked to the devices' MAC addresses.

You could take a look at fing box. Allows detailed blocking/access per device on your network. Can schedule.times when access allowed/blocked.as well.

Handy app for your phone as well.

If you use the youtube kids app you can limit access per day.

IMHO its a thankless task - you really don't want to get into a technology arms race with your kids - they will be setting up VPN's before you know it.....

You either need to educate & trust them, or restrict the use of devices to a room where there is some physical oversight.

At most you may want to try to log what they are doing, but blocking becomes an endless task of unblocking legitimate use.

How long before they get cell phones & you completely lose control.

Devices left downstairs at night is a good practice - for as long as you can make them do that.....
