Hi guys

I'm in the middle of changing the intake manifolds on my weekend toy, a 996 C2, 3.4.

I ended up needing to drop the thermostat housing to access one of the bolts with the drill (and stomski jig for those that know!). Once it's all buttoned back up, I'm going to refill the system with the shiny new cheapo vacuum widget i bought. The coolant came out is what i assume to be pink, even though it was quite bright, i don't think it's luminous orange, so i guess it's standard OAT.

So, at this point my attention is turning to what to put back in. I'm hearing stories of nearly 30 litres capacity in the 996! The other problem i have is my local OPC is still closed for parts and is remaining so for a few weeks yet so i have no idea what stock they have or how much it costs.

My question is, could i use any pink OAT coolant? Halfords, or the comma stuff that amazon are delivering, or even use the prestone stuff that they SAY is suitable to mix with any type of other antifreeze?

Is this one of those things that "is all made in the same factory" OR, is it critical that i wait for the OPC to open to get the stuff with the Porsche label on the bottle?

Assuming the car isn't under Porsche warranty just use anything that fits the spec. smile

Theres all as near as dam it identical (assuming same spec e.g oat to oat)

Labatory would be able to tell the difference but would make no difference to running or performance

The specification is the only thing that matters. The branding is irrelevant.
