Hi ety,

Do the symptons occur from when you start the car or after the engine has warmed up?
If after engine has warmed up, is the car over heating or getting hotter than normal?

Sticky throttle, perhaps friction in the cable or just the pedal catching on the carpet?

The other possibility if it hangs up at 2000 rpm or so is the stepper motor is holding the revs up because of some fault or other. You can test for this by disconnecting the stepper motor plug with the engine at idle, and see if you still get the problem. If you do, you can eliminate the stepper motor and ECU side of things and just looking for a throttle/air leak type problem.

cable would be my bet, or butterfly linkage etc

Mine displayed this symptom when she got hot. once i sorted out the cooling issues the problem went away. I figured it must have been the butterfly throttle linkage distorting with the heat, or the stepper motor sticking.
