Like a lot of cars, mine has frameless side windows that drop an inch when you open the door and then move back up when you close it.

The driver's side, where the window pushes into the A pillar section, emits a loud squeak as the glass presses against the rubber seal as it closes. I've tried polishing the glass and I'd tried cleaning the groove in the seal that the window pushes in to (which was pretty dirty). It normally then stops for about a day and then the next time I try it, it's squeaking again!

Any suggestions? It's driving me nuts. banghead

WD-40 on the window rubber smile

Edit to add: It might also be worth doing the window 'reset' procedure if the car has one. There's usually a way to set the 'top' position which might just be a millimetre or two off.

Good suggestion, I had some Gummi Pflege once, I'll see if I can find it.

My a4 cab has the same issue. It’s an easy fix. A small amount of silicone spray on a paper towel wiped on the rubber will sort it.

As said silicone spray will help, WD40 might stop it initially, but not long term.
