Maserati - How ruinous?
Discussion
I've been doing the usual autotrader browsing and have spotted a 2007 Quattroporte Sport GT which tickles my fancy somewhat.
The usual questions, how ruinous (13 year Maserati with 70K), what to look for etc. I suspect it would be financial suicide but has me more interested in the 10 year old amg stuff I've been pondering. Not concerned about fuel economy or tax
Thoughts?

I’ve run a 2007 4.2 Quattroporte auto for 4 years and 30,000 miles. Not issues except the air con condenser rumbling. Replaced for about £500 I think. Lovely cars that benefit from being used. Ferrari engine from the F430.
I drove 300 miles round trip to a medical appointment today. Such a great car and awesome value.

If it’s been looked after well servicing wise and drives well, all you need to do is get it checked underneath by a specialist, who will check other stuff too, then you are good to go.
Quattroporte’s are great cars, obviously not cheap to run, but who cares. They are currently great value, and a special car to own.

If you can stretch the budget I'd look for a GT S with conventional Bilstein dampers and the ZF auto. Much better car to drive and removes 2 of the biggest problem areas from the equation (Skyhook and DuoSelect). As above also spend the money on a proper inspection from a specialist and make sure the well documented engine variator issue has been fixed.
