Well, if you're planning to drive over any speed humps, the Land Rover might be the better option!

I've got both, so who am I to comment. Defenders are also fun to drive as they have character as well as being practical. Ideally you need both.

The plan was to have both, but I've since discovered Landies aren't cheap!

Need the Landy asap, so alas, the S2 must go to free up funds

Still not comfortable with the idea of no Tiv yet.

you'll get a reasonable series 2 Landrover for a Grand or so....

..or do you want a level of comfort and a cruising speed abouve 55mph ??

This criteria appears to be the factor that hikes the price!!

Need a reliable hack since it's going to be used in the wilds a lot (as it should be) so have my eye out for a D90 hardtop with a 2.5TDi engine with about 60k on the clock....they ain't cheap

It looks like I'm going to need about 7k or thereabouts for such a beasty -just a shame selling the Tiv won't cover the costs
