Seen this Cerb in Sandy, Bedfordshire.

I am interested because I want a 4-seater to replace the Chimaera.

However the steering wheel does not look like a car with only 19k miles on it, and it already has 5 owners (who have averaged less than 4000 miles each over 5 years). Its possible, but I have a and feeling about it.

Does anyone have any info on the car?

Cheers in advance

Can't see a link in your post. If it's a yellow one at a dealer who wants to find your next car with some non-standard wheels it's been discussed either here or on Facebook and it's a bit of a heap.

There are two things that could be happening here
  1. The car has an issue that is awkward and expensive to fix, so it rarely gets used by any owner
  2. The speedo sensor has failed (perhaps more than once) so the mileage is not what it seems
My car managed to fit in to both categories when I bought it, and I became frustated by the price of new speedo sensors

Therefore I found a solution which I advertise in the PH classifieds

This car has been around for a while and before I bought my Cerbera - as other have said most likely there is some sort of story here - I would suggest that a few have looked at this and thought better of it for the money - as said these cars are expensive in areas like chassis/engine etc and the price of 18k is too much if it suffers in those areas - just my opinion - good luck

I guess it’s the lower end of the price scale so you can’t expect it to be perfect. Perfect ones seem to be now priced well into the 30s.

Don’t know the car but 4000 miles over 5 years isn’t unheard of for a toy/ 2nd/3rd car.

I suspect the wear on the steering wheel has been caused by a combination of a largeish driver and a large belt buckle.
You will tell more about mileage by inspecting the DVLA records and looking at the condition of the seat bolsters.
As said above, TVR speedos don't always record the total mileage on the car, particularly if it has been replaced at any time.
My Chimaera has to my knowledge covered at least 4,000 more miles than displayed, due to the every 10,000 mile sticking issue.

It's an early speed 6, so any history on the engine would be informative, as would a careful inspection of the chassis, ideally up on a ramp.
Ideally you would get an independent inspection report done. Compared with the cost of the car they are great value.
Finally, it has a 6 month warranty, but you need to understand how good that warranty is, and if you do buy I would suggest you put it straight into a TVR specialist for a check over and MOT as soon as you have it. That way you are claiming against the dealer immediately.

Be warned that your contract is with the dealer, not the warranty company. If there is something present at the time of sale that would fail an MOT, for example shagged outriggers, or there is something major and mechanical wrong, it is not unheard of for the warranty company to decline all liability, on the basis that the car should have been fixed by the dealer prior to sale. A friend of mine bought a 911 a few years back and the engine went pop for a well known Porsche reason five days after he bought it. The dealer did eventually rebuild the engine, but the warranty company refused to honour the warranty.

If you go to the AT site and email the seller, ask what the Registration is as you want to check the cars history with the DVLA..

You may have done this already of course.

Judging by the fact the seat base has split on the stitching you're probably right!

It looks nasty inside.
