just sold my Ducati Monster S4r. Don't know why really, great bike, but I was offered £ and I let it go..

so I know have £4300 sitting for a new to me bike.

Its role will be commuting to the office 5 miles away (when they reopen). And the occasional, 3/4 times a month 20 mile trip through Hammersmith to north London..

prefer nakeds.. dont want anything too old (ULEZ) or long legged..

on the list at the moment are
Triumph Street Triple 2013 or newer (r if in budget)
Triumph Tiger 800
KTM 690 Duke.. 2016 or newer.
Recent is Honda CB650

cross the range bikes there I know, but I have no idea what I want or what would suit... previous bikes are Ducati S4r, ZZR1400, CBR1000rr, ZX9r, Honda Hornet 600f, Husqvarna 610TE, Honda CBR600 .. etc..

Would recommend the Street Triple, but maybe add MT09 to the list?

Would the MT09 not be too big and heavy for London chaos?

Taking a look..

I wouldn't have thought it'd be much heavier than a CB650. Although I'm only guessing, but I've heard they're pretty nimble bikes.

That Suzuki 650cc v twin off road look alike.

Not ridden one myself but they seem to get a lot of praise and are not expensive, even new.

I had a Street Triple in London for 6 years but the amount of attempted thefts were expensive and tiresome. Great bike though.

The MT09 is pretty nimble in traffic due to the more upright position. I own one and my son owns a Street Triple 675 ,t
he Street Triple is a better quality bike but I find the riding position too uncomfortable , pegs too high and bars too low.

I'm selling my 2016 690 - £4300 would buy it wink

For City commuting, instant power, low weight and upright position is key so I'd say it's the best option on your list (and I'm probably too far for you to buy mine)

In fact a 2017 has just appeared on ebay for £3650 Cat N I'd buy that one

I’ve been looking at 675R’s over the last few weeks and your budget will get you a nice one private with a little haggle (£4500-5000) is where most of the tidy ones were. I got offered a 765R For a little more so stretched the budget in the end.

If it's anywhere as nice as it looked, it was a steal.

Presumably it was cat N for some trivial scratches or something? Sounds like a bargain

The answer seems to always be the street triple. Unless your tall as you will look stupid on it.

If you find the throttle snatchy you can buy the Track Pack or put the cat back on - which is what I did after trying it.

I’m only 5’ 9 and I felt hunched up on mine. Like the bars should have been further away.

Boring as they come, but a middle aged FZ1N would fit the bill.

Can be fairly nondescript in the looks dept, which is handy when parking around London, OTOH can be made to look pretty decent.

Should be able to pick one up for comfortably less than £4300.

Ample performance.

Decent for filtering.

Fine for munchkins.
