Anyone else taking their car off SORN?
Discussion
In all honesty I thought about Sorning my 996 for about 5 seconds in late March & then realised even though it was my 2nd car, even a trip to do the weekly shopping during lockdown was better than leaving it in the garage & worth the cost.
The weather has also been too nice to let it sit in the garage

Surreal experience in my Porsche Centre today.......only about 4 customers, Ikea like paths around the showroom and a full range of models to look at in the car park because no courtesy cars being used. I’ve finally managed to work out the difference between the various shades of silver.
Got my 996 insured and taxed yesterday morning and went for a drive. I felt like a kid with a new toy again after it's been on sorn since december. Usually I would have taxed in March but had holiday booked (which didn't happen ) and then stay-at-home happened. Days like today reminded me just why I bought one in the first place, smile-a-mile in the sunshine !!

Did a lot of people SORN over the lockdown? Didn’t really feel was worth it as by time cancelled insurance etc was little saving
Also used it every so often to get basics from the shell up the road from us on the motorway which is not bad for the car either
Three reasons I put mine on SORN. Firstly it was overdue for its first ever service and Porsche suggested keeping mileage to a minimum. Secondly two months road tax is nearly £80 and thirdly, driving around in a Porsche during lockdown would have been a bit conspicuous where I live. Also used it every so often to get basics from the shell up the road from us on the motorway which is not bad for the car either

SORNed mine for April and May to remove temptation of a non essential drive. Turned out pointless as I still haven’t received a refund so am now paying twice! Also didn’t realise I could have driven it anyway to test my eye sight....
First drive on Monday was a joy
I would chase the DVLA about your refund, i got my cheque in less than a week.First drive on Monday was a joy

Mine took a month so its a bit hit and miss. The car still showed as taxed for two weeks, so their admin is unsurprisingly all over the place. Unfortunately if you aren't a key worker, there is no way of contacting them.Ours is back on the road as of June 1st. We had only taken delivery of it about three weeks before lockdown so we are back to running it in. Such a total joy to be back out there on a glorious day not driving quickly just savouring the moment. Filling the tank with BP Ultimate at £1.12p a litre felt pretty good too.
